The map, produced using GIS, shows where current drought areas are expected to improve, be removed, or persist with intensity, as well as new areas where drought may develop, at the end of the forecast period. The current drought areas are obtained from the most recent weekly U.S. Drought Monitor where drought is considered D1 (moderate drought) or worse. There are two narratives: a brief, general summary and a detailed, regional technical discussion that describes the thought process, forecast tools used, and confidence for each region on the map. These outlook products apply to the following 1-month period from the date of issue. The MDO replaced the updated SDO (which had been released on the first Thursday of the month) starting on June 30, 2013, with the MDO released on the last day of the month. The forecast applies to all 50 states of the United States plus Puerto Rico.", "copyrightText": "NOAA/NWS/CPC", "supportsDynamicLayers": false, "layers": [ { "id": 0, "name": "Monthly Drought Outlook", "parentLayerId": -1, "defaultVisibility": true, "subLayerIds": null, "minScale": 0, "maxScale": 0 }, { "id": 1, "name": "Seasonal Drought Outlook", "parentLayerId": -1, "defaultVisibility": false, "subLayerIds": null, "minScale": 0, "maxScale": 4000000 } ], "tables": [], "spatialReference": { "wkid": 102003, "latestWkid": 102003 }, "singleFusedMapCache": false, "initialExtent": { "xmin": -6440617.519052181, "ymin": -8171956.911033432, "xmax": 6352012.232873991, "ymax": 9540915.053172037, "spatialReference": { "wkid": 102003, "latestWkid": 102003 } }, "fullExtent": { "xmin": -6291853.745999999, "ymin": -1676239.3986, "xmax": 3319092.979200002, "ymax": 4408133.727600001, "spatialReference": { "wkid": 102003, "latestWkid": 102003 } }, "minScale": 0, "maxScale": 0, "units": "esriMeters", "supportedImageFormatTypes": "PNG32,PNG24,PNG,JPG,DIB,TIFF,EMF,PS,PDF,GIF,SVG,SVGZ,BMP", "documentInfo": { "Title": "Monthly Drought Outlook", "Author": "A CPC forecaster (from a rotating schedule of 5)", "Comments": "Monthly Drought Outlook", "Subject": "Climate", "Category": "", "AntialiasingMode": "None", "TextAntialiasingMode": "Force", "Keywords": "atmosphere,united states of america,outlook,monthly,forecast,meteorological hazards,land surface,puerto rico,climatology,meteorology,natural hazards,environmental impacts,drought,precipitation,atmospheric phenomena,water management,preciptiation anomaly" }, "capabilities": "Map,Query,Data", "supportedQueryFormats": "JSON, AMF, geoJSON", "exportTilesAllowed": false, "supportsDatumTransformation": true, "maxRecordCount": 1000, "maxImageHeight": 4096, "maxImageWidth": 4096, "supportedExtensions": "KmlServer, WFSServer, WMSServer" }
